Summer Loose Ends

Tuesday, September 22

Ozark Folk Center

Earlier in the summer, the kids got to be junior pioneers at the Ozark Folk Festival in beautiful Mountain View, AR.

Candle making.

Carving apples for apple head dolls.

They look like this when they are done.

And then the look like this in like 50 years!  Kinda gross/kinda cool.

Old timey laundromat.

Washtub bass.

Letter press.

Texas Pt. 3

Back to Lampasas which means a trip to Storm's for burgers.

And cherry lime squeezes.

Checking out the new mural in town.

Yeah man.

Two deer calmly standing on the sidewalk?

Racing in the street.

Underwear basketball.

A trip to Hancock Pool at Sulphur Springs -  like a mini-Barton Springs.  Nice and cold.

Facetiming with parents back in Memphis.

Picking them up at the airport after their first solo flight.

Texas Pt. 2

There was more puppy time the next day.

And back to Barton Springs - it was a HOT Sunday and the place was packed.

That's Phoebe snorkeling around down there.

Little buddies.

We spent about all day there but no one would've complained if we came back again the next day.

Wednesday, September 9

Texas Pt. 1

We drove the kids down to TX in July. They stayed the week, but we got to spend one fun family weekend together before we left them with their grandparents.  First stop in Lampasas is for Alfredo's enchiladas.

Making new friends.

Ouch.

Ducks walking around a Mexican restaurant: cute or concerning?

Cooper's BBQ in Llano for lunch the next day on the way to Austin.

Our lovely pals Anne & Alex were kind enough to let us stay at their place, but the only problem was that they were off jet setting in L.A.

The kids were happy to look after the pups.

No trip to Austin is complete without a trip to Barton Springs.  It didn't hurt that it was over 100 degrees.  Night swim!

Swimming Hole

Took a little trip to Gunner Pool to check out an old Arkansas swimming hole.

Part of the Sylamore Creek was dammed off to create the pool.

On the shallow side of the dam.

On the deep side of the dam.
