Summer Vacation, Pt. 3

We made the 20 minute drive into Savannah a few times, but this is the only snap we have to show for it. I suppose we we're having too much fun to remember to take pictures.

We had to get out of the sun and back to the rental once in a while for food and naps and, of course, THE shore game of choice - UNO!

Leaning to his right.

And to his left.

The pier and ice cream places were a short walk away. Phoebe often sees something new to her and decides that she just has to try it. After seeing all the dudes fishing on the pier, that is all we heard about for a while.

Frankie D!

Crackin' up.

3/4 Team Plumley self-portrait. Phoebe was off somewhere going on and on about fishing.

Summer Vacation, Pt. 2

Phoebe is clearly happy to finally be at the beach.

What is the beach without snacks?

Frankie gets in on the snackin.

Nothing beats the beach for little kids.

Phoebe knows her sunglasses are upside down. She just likes them that way.

Summer Vacation, Pt. 1

For vacation this year we went to Tybee Island, GA, which is on the Atlantic, just east of Savannah. It's the closest Atlantic shore point from Memphis, but its still a 10 hour drive, so we stopped in Atlanta on the way down to spend the night with our old buddy from PA, Chris.

Living up to his nickname - the Little Ragu - he cooked us an old country Sunday FEAST, even though it was only Saturday: chicken cutlets, meatballs, steak pizzaiola, roast zucchini, and house chianti. Unbelievably good.

Of course the Little Ragu has a jukebox right off the kitchen - a true sign of taste and class.

After a great breakfast we hit the Noguchi Playscape in Piedmont Park so the kids could run around before getting back in the car. We'd read about this place in an article about the plaground renassiance of the 60's and 70's, before everything became 100% plastic and safe and looked like McDonald's playgrounds.

Believe it or not, this might be Phoebe's first time on a real teeter-totter. You just dont see them anymore.

Climbing.

Hanging.

FAST slides, perfect for racing. The Lady of The House off to an early lead.

Frankie gets in on the action.

Phoebe about to hang 10.

Frankie senses the impending doom of getting back in the car for the remaining 4 hours of the trip. Next up: beach.
