Phoebe Turns 5

Phoebe had a birthday last Thursday. The big 5! She had to be measured for official family record keeping.


She's an inch or two bigger than she was when she turned 4.


Her birthday fell on a school day so she stopped by Howard's Donuts to pick some up for the kids in her class.


At home that night, we had a little party with just the family. Phoebe was told she could have anything she wanted for dinner and she requested pancakes and bacon. No problem! After dinner it was time to open the presents. Here is the Snowy Day guy that Phoebe asked for:

On Friday, the day after her birthday, Phoebe had a snow day. This came at a good time because she had lots of work to do to get ready for the party that she planned for herself the next day. Cupcakes had to be made because it was, among other things, a decorate your own cupcake party.



It got really really cold on Friday night and on Saturday all of the streets were solid ice and Phoebe's party had to be postponed. Winter birthdays! She was sad, but handled it like a champ and hoped that it would warm up so she could the party could happen the next afternoon. Our street:


The sun was shining on Sunday and the party went off without a hitch. Phoebe invited 4 little friends - 2 boys and 2 girls - and one big friend, and everyone was able to make it. Lots of little brothers and sisters tagged along too. She asked that everyone wear a costume to the party. Phoebe was some kind of princess. The cupcakes are bare because everyone was to decorate their own once the candles were blown out.

Don't let this picture fool you - Phoebe had a blast at her party, so it was only natural that she was a little sad when it was all over. Happy Birthday, Phoebe!
