Mountain Man Rendezvous

We were at the cabin the other day when we looked off the hill and across the river to see a bunch of tee pees, fires, and other commotion.  We went down to investigate and learned we stumbled upon the Mountain Man Rendezvous.  Blacksmithing:

Haberdashery.

Tents and trunks.

Deer shoulders cooked on open fires.

Hatchet throwing.

And then there was this guy.  He demonstrated this atlatl stick thrower that he claimed predates the bow and arrow by a few thousand years.

He let the Lady of the House give it a try.

The follow through.

Examining the hit.

\

Not bad for the first time - a direct hit to the water buffalo's head!
