Camp Drop Off

We dropped Phoebe off at camp on Father's Day. Two weeks this year!  She went to a different camp last year that had one week sessions and she liked it so much she wanted to do an extra week this year.  But rather then got back to the same camp, we sent her to what would have been our first choice last year, if they had a one-week session.  She and 5 other girls was assigned to Cabin 4.  She was the only one from Memphis in her cabin.

The cabin.  No bathrooms, no fans.  Pretty rustic.  The bathroom is a short walk away.

While Phoebe was doing all the check-in stuff - like getting checked for lice! - Frankie explored the grounds.  Tetherball:

Archery.

Vegetable garden.

Canoes.

Teepee.

Fishing poles.

This is the view from the window next to Phoebe's bunk.

Checking the minnow traps.

Phoebe also had to suit up and pass her swimming test.  Yes - white swim caps are mandatory.

4 laps.

Treading water for 10 minutes.  She passed.

Then she had to put on her camp uniform - white shirt and blue shorts.  Old school!  Here she is at the nature center with a baby rat that had just been born.  The girls could handle rabbits, snakes, possums, etc.

The camp was amazing and no one wanted to leave - we all wanted to stay for the whole two weeks.  But Frank and Phoebe finally had to have their awkward sibling goodbye:
