Little Rock

We went to Little Rock, AR for the weekend. We started off downtown at the Community Bakery. Frankie enjoys his maple donut.

After breakfast at the Clinton Library. Phoebe takes in the Oval Office.

Intrigued by Bill's saxophones.

Socks, the former First Cat, bears a striking resemblance to Donut, right down to the shades.

The highlight of the library for Phoebe was learning that Dom De Luise and Bill Clinton were pen pals. Who knew?!

Next up was the Old Mill. Frankie likes what he sees.

It isn't really an old mill, but was built in the 1930's as a replica of one and was used in the opening credits of Gone with the Wind.

Everything was made with concrete by some old dude from Mexico. We learned that it was the same guy that made the grotto in Memphis.

Phoebe really enjoyed egging on this goose.

Frankie making Phoebe laugh on the toad stools.

We also hit this great park right on the Arkansas River. It was the first really nice day of the year - 65 and sunny - so the place was hopping.

A friend told us about a good pizza place. It was easily the best pizza we've found below the Mason-Dixon. Frankie blowing on the hot pizza so he doesn't burn his tongue.

The same guy that did the Old Mill did some other stuff in the same neighborhood. Phoebe took this picture:

Frankie was very suspicious of these geese.

The neighborhood with all this cool stuff is called Lakewood. It is a 1950s subdivision filled with modest, well kept ranchers and mid-century modern homes, but in the middle of it are like 5 lakes. Big ones, too. The pictures don't really show it, but it's an amazing neighborhood to find in the middle of a city. We went both days because Phoebe just couldn't get enough of it.
